NEW DELHI: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday claimed that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been in jail since March 21, has lost a significant amount of weight, dropping from 70 kg to 61.5 kg. Singh said that Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels have dipped below 50 mg/dL on five occasions while he was in jail.
“His health condition is such that if he is not brought out of jail soon and provided medical care, any serious incident may happen with him,” Singh said at a press conference.
“The aim of BJP and its government at the Centre is to keep him in jail and play with his life. They are hatching conspiracy so that he faces some serious health issues,” Singh further alleged.
The cause of Kejriwal’s rapid weight loss remains unknown, as no medical tests have been conducted while in custody Singh said, adding, suggesting that this change in weight could be sign of a serious ailment.
Despite the Supreme Court granting Kejriwal interim bail in the ED case on Friday, he remains in jail due to his arrest by the CBI in connection with the excise policy “scam” case.
Kejriwal, was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the excise policy case filed by the Enforcement Directorate. However, he will remain in custody due to his arrest by the CBI in the same case.
The Enforcement Directorate had arrested Kejriwal on March 21 as part of their investigation into alleged money laundering related to irregularities in the now-cancelled 2021-22 Delhi excise policy.
