NEW DELHI: Vikas Dubey, a 24-year-old resident of Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, has reportedly been bitten by a snake seven times within a span of 40 days. The repeated snake bites have left Dubey in a financial predicament, prompting him to seek assistance from the local authorities.
Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern, and three times is a habit. Vikas Dubey, a 24-year-old from Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, has endured the unimaginable: seven snake bites in just 40 days. These repeated snake bites have left Dubey in a financial predicament, prompting him to seek assistance from local authorities.
“The victim came to the Collectorate and cried that he had spent a lot of money to cure the snake bite and now he requested for financial help from the authorities. I advised him to visit a government-run hospital where he could get anti-snake venom free of cost,” said Rajiv Nayan Giri, the chief medical officer.
Giri expressed his skepticism about the unusual pattern of snake bites occurring every Saturday. “We still need to figure out if it is actually a snake that’s biting him. We also need to see the competence of the doctor who is treating him. A person being bitten by a snake every Saturday and that person being admitted to the same hospital every time, and recovering in just one day seems strange,” Giri said.
To unravel the mystery surrounding Dubey’s case, a team of three doctors has been formed. Giri assured that the team would investigate the matter thoroughly and reveal the truth to the public. According to officials, Dubey has been hospitalised after each snake attack and has recovered following treatment.
