NEW DELHI: NDA functionaries on Tuesday met at BJP headquarters to review their strategy for the current assembly polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, and the upcoming electoral challenges.
The presence of senior BJP members like Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda, along with key ministers from allied parties, underscored the importance of the meeting. Sources said the meeting was crucial for aligning strategies among members of National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The participation of functionaries like Pratap Rao Jadhav from Shiv Sena, Chirag Paswan from LJP (Ram Vilas), Jitan Ram Manjhi from HAM, and Jayant Chaudhary from RLD was seen as yet another bid to consolidate the alliance and ensure a unified approach in the elections. The sources said NDA parties focused on maintaining a cohesive campaign strategy across states.
Later another meeting involving only BJP functionaries, including union ministers, took place, and it focused on internal organisational matters.
With BJP gearing up for a leadership transition, the discussions, sources said, included the selection process for a new party president. BJP is likely to have its new chief within a couple of months.
There was also a separate meeting to review preparations for the Delhi assembly polls, indicating BJP’s strategic planning for state elections beyond Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Baijayant Panda is the election in-charge for Delhi and Atul Garg co-in-charge for the Delhi assembly polls, which are likely to be held early next year.
