Travis Head continues to make merry against Indian bowling attack across formats, highlighted by his recent dominance in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, which saw the left-handed batter scoring his second consecutive Test century of the series in Brisbane on Sunday.
Head followed up his counter-attacking 140 in Adelaide with another big aggressive knock of 152 in Brisbane to give Australia initial control of the third Test at the Gabba after the hosts were put in to bat by India captain Rohit Sharma.
Only 13.2 overs were possible on the rain-hit day one, but the second day produced a flood of runs, chiefly from the bats of two centurions of the day — Head and Steve Smith.
Smith ended his drought of centuries with his 33rd Test hundred, while adding 241 runs for the fourth wicket with Head to hammer the Indian bowlers.
Meanwhile, Head chose his favourite opposition to end his spell of three consecutive golden ducks at the Gabba. It was Head’s third Test hundred against India in the last seven innings, which included his 163 in the World Test Championship final last year.
He also broke Indian hearts late last year with a match-winning century in the ODI World Cup final.
It’s such dominance of Head that has the fans worried about the cluelessness of Indian bowlers in their attempts to work out the prolific Australian batter, who has now scored 9 hundreds in 52 Tests and 6 hundreds in 69 ODIs.
Here’s how the fans expressed their concern on social media:
