“It is with a deep sadness that we announce that Bill Pascrell Jr., our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away this morning. As our United States Representative, Bill fought to his last breath to return to the job he cherished and to the people he loved,” Pascrell’s family said in a statement on X.
“Bill lived his entire life in Paterson and had an unwavering love for the city that he grew up in and served. He is now at peace after a lifetime devoted to our great nation,” said the Congressman family.
Elected as Congressman for New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District in 1996, Bill had represented his constituents for over two decades. Following congressional reapportionment, the district was reconfigured to the 9th Congressional District in 2013, and Bill was serving his twelfth term before passing away. Since 2007, he had been a member of the influential House Ways and Means Committee, where he championed middle-class interests by advocating for job creation, fair tax policies, beneficial trade agreements, and affordable healthcare, according to Bill Pascrell’s official website.
