The Boeing 737, which had just taken off from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, had to return shortly after the pilot detected a problem with the door seal.
Campaign spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk confirmed that the issue was quickly addressed on the ground, and the plane later resumed its flight to Cincinnati. “The pilot advised there was a malfunction with the door seal,” Van Kirk said, assuring that the situation was handled promptly.
Vance, the Ohio senator and running mate of former President Donald Trump, was returning from a campaign event at the Milwaukee Police Association. He was accompanied by his wife, Usha, their German Shepherd, and several reporters covering the campaign.
This incident follows another aviation scare for the Trump campaign, when a plane carrying Trump himself had to divert over Montana last week due to a mechanical issue.
