NEW DELHI: Wholesale price inflation moderated in July, led by the impact of a favourable base effect reversing a four month rising trend but prices of vegetables and food items rose sequentially.
Inflation, as measured by the wholesale price index, rose an annual 2%, slower than the 3.4% increase in June. Positive rate of inflation in July was primarily due to increase in prices of food articles, manufacture of food products, mineral oils, crude petroleum and natural gas, and other manufacturing items.
Potato inflation rose 76.2% during the month, while onion was at 88.8%.
