“First he called me after the incident (assassination bid) and said it was very brave. He actually announced he is not gonna support a Democrat because he can’t because he respected me for what I did that day. What I did that day was a normal response to me. But I was called by Mark Zuckerberg yesterday, the day before on the same subject and he actually apologized and said that he had made a mistake…”Trump said adding that nobody called from Google.
Facebook did officially acknowledge that it identified a widely shared image of Donald Trump after the assassination bid as altered. The ‘altered’ tag was meant for a similar photo which was also doing the rounds on social media. The altered photo had the Secret Service personnel smiling.
“This was an error. This fact check was initially applied to a doctored photo showing the secret service agents smiling, and in some cases our systems incorrectly applied that fact check to the real photo. This has been fixed, and we apologize for the mistake,” Meta’s public affairs director Dani Lever posted on X after social media users alleged that several social media platforms shadow-banned Donald Trump.
Elon Musk accused Google of censoring searched about Donald Trump as screenshots of how there was no auto-suggestion on Google after ‘Donald Trump’ was typed. Google, however, dismissed any censorship and said there was no intervention.
“Over the past few days, some people on X have posted claims that Search is ‘censoring’ or ‘banning’ particular terms. That’s not happening, and we want to set the record straight. The posts relate to our Autocomplete feature, which predicts queries to save you time. Autocomplete is just a tool to help you complete a search quickly. Regardless of what predictions it shows at any given moment, you can always search for whatever you want and get easy access to results, images and more,” Google stated.
But has Zuckerberg really endorsed Trump?
What Trump claimed in the Fox News interview was his private call with Zuckerberg who has not yet publicly endorsed Trump but praised Trump’s gesture after the assassination attempt. He said Donald Trump’s reaction was ‘bada**’ and inspiring. “Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most bada** things I’ve ever seen in my life,” Zuckerberg earlier said.
