Hollywood and the Democratic Party shared a close relation which now has been put to test ahead of the election with Joe Biden’s questionable health which is no more a secret. Several Hollywood moguls, including top donors to the party, have expressed their reservation against Biden taking on Trump this time as they see little chance of Biden retaining the presidency and want an alternative candidate. And there is no indication for that to happen.
Hollywood moguls who want Biden out of presidential race
Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel blamed Biden’s advisers for the CNN showdown. “He said he was going to run for one term, and he’s doing it to restore democracy. He then runs for a second term — that’s the first bit of malarkey, as he would say. He and his cohorts have told us that he’s [been] healthy for over a year,” Emanuel said.
Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings and his wife have donated millions to Democrats over the past years. And they became one of the first celebrities to call out Biden’s debate urging him to step aside.
IAC chairman Barry Diller said he and his wife donated to Biden’s campaign but they are no longer supporting Biden.
Disney heiress Abigail Disney, a longtime Democrat sponsor, said she planned to stop any funding to the party unless there is a replacement for Biden.
Seething with frustration over Biden, the Hollywood mogul have one person to blame — Jeffrey Katzenberg, the former DreamWorks CEO who was Biden’s fundraiser in Hollywood. He has been now accused of downplaying Biden’s age factor by saying that age is Biden’s “superpower”.
“Jeffrey lied about the whole Biden thing. The whole Biden inner circle lied… It’s such an act of hypocrisy,” an insider was quoted in news reports.
“This Hollywood schism underscores a larger narrative of uncertainty and introspection within the Democratic Party. As Biden’s approval ratings wane and his age becomes an increasingly contentious issue, the pressure mounts for a clear and compelling alternative,” Daily Beast reported.
