The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) congratulated Donald Trump on Wednesday after his triumph in the US presidential election. The organisation expressed optimism about strengthened India-US ties under his leadership, emphasising their shared democratic values.
The 78-year-old Republican achieved a remarkable political comeback in American history by securing his second non consecutive term as president of the United States of America, defeating Democratic opponent Kamala Harris in a tightly contested election.
Trump, with his background in real estate development, initially served as the 45th US President. Following his successful ‘Make America Great Again’ campaign, he will now return to the White House as the 47th President, after securing the necessary 270 electoral votes for victory.
VHP international president Alok Kumar offered his congratulations, highlighting Trump’s previous commitments regarding Hindu community security and his assurance of protection for Hindus worldwide.
“We congratulate and extend him our best wishes for his historic victory,” he said in a statement.
“We hope that under his leadership, Indo-US relations will further strengthen with our shared heritage and values of democracy, the dignity of the individuals, and rule of law,” Kumar said.
He concluded by expressing confidence that both nations would collaborate towards global peace and prosperity.
