PRAYAGRAJ: After a spurt in paper leak cases, the security of question papers has been enhanced by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). Now, question papers will be kept in boxes equipped with multi-layered digital locks, tampering which won’t be easy.
UPPSC had kept question papers of two recruitment examinations in similar boxes last year. This system will now be implemented in all recruitment examinations. Moreover, a control room will be set up in every examination in the Recruitment Board or Selection Commission and the entire recruitment process will be monitored from there. From taking out the papers from the treasury to opening the bundle of question papers at the exam centre, the entire process will be monitored through CCTVs and the recordings saved for a year.
Sources said question papers will be taken out of the printing press in iron boxes – with multi-layered digital locks and screws – and kept in the treasury of respective districts. From the treasury, the question papers will be delivered to exam centres in these boxes.
At exam centres, packets of question papers will be taken out of the box following prescribed procedure and opened 30 minutes before the exam. The entire process – keeping and taking the boxes out of the treasury and opening the question paper packets at exam centres – will be videographed.
The commission will have a digital lock code. The boxes will have locks on both sides to ensure that the question papers can’t be tampered with even after removing the screws. The code for the digital lock will remain with the officer of the commission, who will reveal it 30 minutes before the exam. After this, the bundles of question papers can be taken out by opening the box at the exam centre.
