NEW DELHI: Referring to the latest trends, National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that he was happy that the people chose NC and thanked the voters for their support.
“We should wait for the final results to come. Only after that we can say something. As of now, I am really happy that NC has got victory and we are thankful to the voters.People have supported us more than we expected. It will now be our efforts to prove that we are worth these votes,” Abdullah said.
He accused political parties of conspiring to finish the National Conference party during the last five years.
“Efforts were being made by other political parties to completely finish the National Conference party since the last five years. However, those who tried to finish us have lost themselves today,” he added.
In the assembly elections, Omar Abdullah secured victory with over 16,000 votes against PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Budgam seat.
Meanwhile, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah declared that Omar Abdullah will be appointed as chief minister after the party, in alliance with Congress. “People have given their mandate; they have proven that they don’t accept the decision that was taken on August 5…Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister.”
