NEW DELHI: A cook working for a Pakistani diplomat in central Delhi’s Tilak Marg area has been accused of attempting to molest a domestic worker at the diplomat’s house.
The cook, identified as Minhaj Hussain, aged 54, is a Pakistani national. The victim, an Indian woman, filed a complaint against Hussain at the Tilak Marg police station on June 28, a senior police officer told news agency PTI.
Hussain, who arrived in India from Pakistan in February, is believed to have been sent back to his home country following the incident. However, the police are currently verifying this information.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has registered a case under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to “assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty.” Further investigations into the matter are under way.
The victim had been working as a domestic help at the diplomat’s residence for a few months and was provided with living quarters on the premises.
