BENGALURU/MYSURU: BJP intensified Wednesday its criticism of Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, releasing copies of sale deeds, land registration and other documents to support allegations that Mysuru Urban Development Authority (Muda) had illegally allotted land to his wife Parvathi aka Parvathamma. The CM has denied the charges.
State BJP president BY Vijayendra alleged violations involving Siddaramaiah and his family, calling for the chief minister’s resignation.According to him, Parvathi was allotted 14 sites measuring 60×40 ft each instead of the two sites of the same size she was entitled to for her 3.2 acres of acquired land. “This is totally illegal,” he said.
Vijayendra accused Siddaramaiah of failing to declare these properties in his 2013 election affidavit, calling it a “blatant violation” of Representation of the People Act, 1951, and the model code of conduct. He said BJP might file a formal complaint with EC.
BJP has accused Muda of deviating from the standard site allotment ratio of 40:60, allegedly favouring a 50:50 ratio for Parvathi on CM’s directive.
According to Siddaramaiah, the 3 acres and 16 guntas gifted to his wife by her brother were encroached upon by the agency without “official acquisition”. The sites allotted to Parvathi, totalling 38,284 sqft in upscale Vijayanagara III Stage of Mysuru as compensation, were lower in value than the land they lost, he had said.
However, Vijayendra said: “The land was acquired by Muda before it was purchased by the CM’s brother-in-law and later given to CM’s wife through a gift deed.” He questioned how the brother-in-law could purchase land already in Muda’s possession, noting discrepancies in the gift deed, which described the acquired land as farmland when it had been converted. He also challenged the CM’s claims about the value of the sites received, arguing that each of the 14 sites was worth over Rs 2 crore.
