NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi on Monday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘ek hai toh safe hai’ rhetoric as he went on to explain the nexus between the slogan and the Mumbai’s Dharavi project being given to Adani.
“Narendra Modi’s slogan is: If we are united, we are safe. The question is: who is one, who is safe, and whose is it safe?” he said at a press briefing.

“The answer is – there is Narendra Modi, Adani, Amit Shah and there is Safe Adani. At the same time, the people of Maharashtra and Dharavi are the ones who suffer loss,” he added.
Calling the Maharashtra election a contest between the billionaires and the poor, Rahul said that Congress government would side with the farmers, poor and the unemployed.
“The election of Maharashtra is the election of ideology, it is between select few billionaires and the poor. The billionaires want the lands of Mumbai. Our thinking is to provide help to farmers, poor, unemployed. The main issues are employment, and inflation,” he said.
“We have been clearly saying that our focus is to help women, we will put Rs 3,000 in every woman’s account, there would be free bus travel for them,” he added he went on to list other actions the grand old party would take if it comes to power:

  • Women will be given Rs 3000 every month
  • Women will get free bus facility
  • Farmers’ loans up to Rs 3 lakh will be waived
  • Rs 7,000 per quintal will be available on soybean
  • There will be a fair price committee for onion farmers
  • There will be fair MSP for cotton
  • Caste census will be conducted in Maharashtra
  • Health insurance up to Rs 25 lakh
  • Rs 4000 aid per month to the unemployed
  • Will provide 2.5 lakh government jobs
