NEW DELHI: CSK’s latest recruit Shreyas Gopal delivered a sensational performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Tuesday, claiming a stunning hat-trick that included the prized scalps of Pandya brothers Hardik and Krunal, both dismissed for golden ducks at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore.
Gopal, who was bought by five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for his base price of Rs 30 lakh in IPL 2025 mega auction, gave much-needed breakthrough to Karnataka by dismissing well-set Baroda opener Shashwat Rawat (63 off 37 balls) on the first ball of the 11th over.

Rawat added a crucial 89 runs partnership for the second wicket with Bhanu Pania after losing his opening partner Abhimanyu Singh early on in the innings.
But what followed after that was more shocking as Gopal first got rid of in-form Hardik and then Krunal in the next two balls to claim a stunning hat-trick. Gopal, who returned figures of 4/19, also dismissed Pania (42 off 24 balls) an over later to pick his fourth wicket.
The leg-spinner showcased impeccable control and sharp turn, rattling the opposition with his brilliant spell. His hat-trick not only turned the game on its head but also highlighted his knack for rising to the occasion in crucial moments.
