Former Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Nida Dar faced severe backlash on Thursday after one of her posts went viral.
In the post, Nida congratulated the Indian men’s cricket team on their T20 World Cup win and praised the iconic players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who bid farewell to the format following the tournament.
However, the timing of the post, which came more than two months after the final, raised eyebrows.
“Official Statement: I initially made this post on June 30th 2024, but due to restrictions on Twitter in Pakistan, it was posted last night instead, which I learned about through the media. I am attaching both pictures to this post. #Pakistan #T20WorldCup,” she wrote on her social media account.
Despite her explanation, Indian fans were not pleased with the delayed congratulatory message and proceeded to troll the former Pakistan captain.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to participate in the forthcoming Test series against Bangladesh, which consists of two matches.
The series opener will take place at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, commencing on September 19.
The second Test is slated to be held at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium, starting from September 27.
