A 26-year-old American woman was fatally shot in the head in occupied West Bank on Friday, succumbing to her injuries, according to two doctors.
The incident took place while she was attending a pro-Palestinian demonstration against settlement expansion.
Another protester at the anti-settlement demonstration confirmed to the Associated Press that an American woman was killed by Israeli soldiers.
Dr Ward Basalat reported that the woman was shot in the head and died of her injuries after arriving at the hospital. The victim was at a protest in Beita, a Palestinian town north of Ramallah.
Witnesses and Palestinian media allege that Israeli troops fired the shot. The Israeli military has not yet commented on the shooting incident.
Dr Basalat, who treated her at the hospital, said, “I treated her for a gunshot wound to the head and that she died shortly after arrival.”
Dr Fouad Naffa, the head of the hospital, also confirmed the death, saying, that she was an American citizen.
Meanwhile, the White House expressed being “deeply disturbed” by the incident and has called for an Israeli investigation into the matter.

The increase in violent attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian villages in the West Bank has sparked escalating anger among Israel’s Western allies, including the United States, which has responded by imposing sanctions on several individuals.
A month prior, American citizen Amado Sison was shot in the leg by Israeli forces while trying to flee tear gas and live fire during a similar protest.
