A fast-moving wildfire near Sierra Brooks has triggered a mandatory evacuation order, with the Bear Fire rapidly spreading in the Tahoe National Forest, according to the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office. Initially reported at 30 to 40 acres in the afternoon, the fire has now grown to approximately 64 acres by 4:23 pm, according to the US Forest Service. However, Cal Fire later reported that the fire had expanded further, burning nearly 200 acres in the Sierra Brooks area, CBS reported.
The evacuation order is specifically for the west side of Sierra Brooks, targeting zone SIE-E031 due to the immediate threat posed by the advancing flames. Residents in the affected area are being urged to evacuate without delay to ensure their safety.

This fire’s rapid growth comes amid a red flag warning for the Tahoe Basin area, where gusty winds and low humidity are exacerbating wildfire risks. Firefighters are working to contain the blaze under challenging conditions as residents comply with evacuation orders.
The cause of the Bear Fire is currently unknown. Firefighters continue their efforts to bring the situation under control as more information becomes available.
