MUMBAI: The Hyderabad bench of the National Company Law Tribunal has approved Adani Power‘s purchase of Lanco Amarkantak for Rs 4,101 crore through the bankruptcy process, the Ahmedabad-based company said on Thursday.
Lanco Amarkantak owns a 600MW thermal power plant in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh. The deal, expected to be concluded by Oct 20, will advance Adani Power’s position as India’s leading private sector electricity generator, with a capacity of 15,850 MW.
Lanco Amarkantak supplies a majority of its power to Haryana and Madhya Pradesh distribution companies through Power Trading Corporation. It has a fuel supply agreement with Coal India’s subsidiary South Eastern Coalfields for 2.78 MMT of raw material.
Lanco Amarkantak, said Adani Power, is also expanding its capacity by setting up another 1,320 MW thermal power plant in the same Korba district of Chhattisgarh. In FY24, Lanco Amarkantak generated a turnover of Rs 1,308 crore.
