They wanted a slot for a Palestinian-American speaker at the Democratic National Convention. Wednesday evening, they got a call from the organizers and the reply was ‘no’ following which Muslim Women for Harris announced that they are disbanding and can’t continue to support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Abbas Alawieh, a Michigan delegate acting as a spokesperson for the uncommitted delegates, said they can’t continue with their support in “good conscience”.The parents of the 23-year-old Israeli hostage showed more empathy towards Palestinian Americans than the DNC, they said.

“This is a terrible message to send to Democrats. Palestinians have the right to speak about Palestine. We pray that the DNC and VP Harris team makes the right decision before this convention is over. For the sake of each of us,” the statement from Muslim Women for Harris said.
Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez assured the protesters that their request for a Palestine speaker was a basic thing to ask for and that their protest was “paired with a very strong inside push”.
Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg, the parents of hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin, spoke at the convention on Wednesday and called for a ceasefire deal that brings home the hostages and “ends the suffering of the innocent people in Gaza.”
Pro-Palestinian protesters took to the street in Chicago since the beginning of the Democratic National Convention and clashed with the police. At a hotel in Chicago were the DNC delegates are staying, maggots were released in the breakfast prompting the FBI to investigate into it and to find out whether it was done by the activists.
