WWE legend Hulk Hogan has sparked outrage after making controversial remarks about US Vice President and Democratic presidential contender Kamala Harris. During a promotional event for his new beer, the 71-year-old wrestling icon, whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea, took aim at Harris’s racial identity and jokingly suggested body-slamming her.
In front of an audience, Hogan was captured on camera asking, “Do you want me to body slam Kamala Harris? Do you want me to drop the leg on Kamala?”—a reference to one of his signature wrestling moves. The comments quickly drew attention, especially given the racially charged nature of his subsequent remarks.
Harris, whose father, Donald Jasper Harris, is Jamaican-American and mother, Shyamala Gopalan, is an immigrant from India, has been the target of similar attacks before. Hogan, a known supporter of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, echoed past criticisms by questioning Harris’s roots. “Is Kamala a chameleon? Is Kamala Indian?” Hogan continued, before admitting that he would likely “feel the heat” for his statements, attributing them to “the beer talking.”

The incident comes just weeks after Trump launched a racial attack on Harris, questioning whether she was “Indian or Black.” Trump claimed Harris had emphasized her Asian-American heritage until she “became a black person” for political gain. Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, also supported these remarks, describing Harris as having a “chameleon-like” nature.

Hogan’s remarks add fuel to an already heated political atmosphere, as the Democratic National Convention (DNC) unfolds in Chicago. The four-day event will culminate in Harris’s formal endorsement as the Democratic presidential candidate for the upcoming November election.
Democrats rally behind Harris at the DNC
Meanwhile, the Democratic National Convention has seen a powerful display of unity and support for Kamala Harris. Former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama took center stage, throwing their weight behind Harris as she prepares for the final leg of her campaign.
Driven by a strong desire to prevent a second Trump presidency, Democratic leaders have not held back. Michelle Obama declared that “hope is making a comeback,” referring to Harris’s growing momentum ahead of the November polls. Harris, who has described her campaign as “people-powered,” continues to gain endorsements from key figures within the party.
Senators Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders also voiced their support for Harris, further bolstering her position as the party’s nominee.
In a surprising appearance, Trump’s former press secretary Stephanie Grisham, now a vocal critic of the former president, spoke in favor of Harris. “Trump has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth,” Grisham stated. “I love my country more than my party. Kamala Harris tells the truth. She respects the American people. And she has my vote.”
As the DNC continues, the contrast between the Democratic and Republican candidates becomes increasingly stark, setting the stage for a highly charged election in November.
