NEW DELHI: Yash Dayal, a young pacer, credited star India batter Virat Kohli for boosting his confidence during his stint with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
In a recent chat with Sports Tak, Dayal shared how Kohli’s support made him feel at ease. Kohli assured him that he would back him throughout the season, making him feel welcome and part of the team.
Dayal fondly recalled Kohli’s words, emphasizing the positive impact they had.
“The biggest thing he (Kohli) said to me was that he will back me the whole season,” Dayal mentioned. This assurance helped Dayal settle in quickly and perform better. He no longer felt like he was in an unfamiliar environment, thanks to Kohli’s encouragement and support.

Kohli’s approach to young players stood out for Dayal. He noted that Kohli talks to the youngsters in a “very healthy way,” debunking any negative perceptions created by the media. This supportive attitude of Kohli helped the newcomers feel comfortable and confident. Dayal expressed that Kohli is different from the intense image often portrayed on TV.
“He told me that I will not feel like I have come to a new place, and he backed me completely. So this was a huge boost up and he talks to the youngsters in such a very healthy way and he is nothing like what people talk about on TV. I don’t feel like that,” Dayal told Sports Tak.
Dayal’s experience is a testament to Kohli’s positive influence on young players. Kohli’s reassurances and friendly demeanor create a welcoming atmosphere, allowing new team members to thrive.
