Passengers of an American Airlines flight were called immigrants as they were stranded in the Bahamas for 24 hours owing to “excruciating circumstances”. The flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Miami, Florida — carrying around 90 passengers — was detoured to the Bahamas because of Hurricane Debby and there was no accommodation for the passengers.Dimas Henriquez, as passenger of flight 2421, told Fox News Digital that they were called illegal immigrants at the island nation though they were nothing to do with the emergency.
“They made a point to mention that, like, ‘y’all are illegal immigrants here right now, y’all don’t have much say in anything.’ Even though we didn’t choose to be there,” Dimas Henriquez, passenger of American Airlines flight 2421, told Fox News Digital. “We were literally locked in… It was not possible to leave,” he continued. “I was awake the entire time, but people were on the floor covered in corners and stuff, like very spread out. It looked like we were camping indoors.”

Videos taken by the passengers at the Bahamas went viral on TikTok as they found it unbelievable that they had to spend the night in another country. A TikToker in his video said the pilot announced that they needed to land in the Bahamas, a different country. The pilot even asked who have their passports.
‘We land the plane, we’re sitting on the tarmac for two hours, we got off the plane, turns out the pilot can’t do overtime or something so we had to get off the plane,’ the TikToker with the handle @griptape_dimas said.
‘We got off here, we can’t leave the terminal cos we’re not allowed to be here, we are illegally here and not only can’t we leave the airport, we can’t leave the terminal, we can’t do anything.’
