A burglary was reported at a Virginia campaign office for former US President Donald Trump over the weekend. The Loudoun County sheriff’s office is investigating whether anything was stolen during the incident.
The office, located in Ashburn, is being leased by the Trump for President 2024 campaign and also serves as the headquarters of the Virginia 10th district republican committee, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office was notified about the burglary around 9 pm on Sunday. Surveillance video obtained by the office shows an individual wearing dark clothing with a dark cap and carrying a backpack. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the details of the incident.
Sheriff Mike Chapman emphasised the unusual nature of the break-in, saying, “It is rare to have the office of any political campaign or party broken into. We are determined to identify the suspect, investigate why it happened, and determine what may have been taken, as well as what may have been left behind.”
As of now, neither the Trump campaign nor the 10th district republican committee has responded to requests for comment regarding the burglary.
