Aydin Brown, a 14-year-old boy from the United States, who was on a cruise with his grandmother, has been found safe after disappearing for more than three days in Germany, according to his grandmother and NBC reports.
Aydin Brown had left the Caribbean Princess cruise ship on Thursday morning when it docked at the port of Rostock-Warnemünde. According to Fox News, Rostock police reported that Brown and his grandmother had an argument, which led to him leaving the ship.German authorities had been searching for Brown since his disappearance.
The cruise line expressed their gratitude towards the German authorities in a statement, saying, “We are delighted that Aydin Brown has been found safe and sound. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to German authorities for their swift response and exceptional efforts in locating Aydin after he disembarked in Warnemunde last Thursday morning.” The company also confirmed that Brown has been reunited with his family.
Brown’s grandmother disembarked the ship on Thursday night to assist with the search efforts, and the cruise line arranged for Brown’s mother to fly to Germany.
During the search, police distributed photos of the teen and video stills from surveillance cameras that showed him conversing with an unidentified man. Anne Yaktiyol, Brown’s cousin, suggested in a social media post that the family believes he may have been coaxed away by a stranger.
